HDG與PP打交道
時隔將近 6 年，經過數月折衝，懷德居終於和 PP 建立伙伴關係，2008-02-01 懷德居再次訂購 Wegner 設計作品中屬於Joinery type 的 23 張椅子，其中 PP112, PP240, PP512 及 Soren Ulrik Petersen 設計之 PP911 等，相信這些都是第一次進到台灣，而 PP503 The Chair 則是添購其中橡木﹝Oak﹞及梣木﹝Ash﹞者，為了是要比較同一設計，但以不同材種製作，對於視覺的影響有多大差異。
PP 公司為一家族企業，專門以傳統工藝製作高品質設計師家具享譽盛名。自1953 年創立以來一直保持這項傳統。在丹麥 Wegner 所設計 joinery type 的椅子﹝以 PP501, The Chair 為代表﹞全由 PP 製作，至於 industry type 者﹝以 CH24, Y Chair 為代表﹞則委由 Carl Hansen 生產。兩款設計在市場上的售價差距，實不可道里計！
千呼萬喚，這些椅子終於到來，前後等了237天。為了這23 箱椅子，HDG 還以20 呎貨櫃迎娶，外行人覺得不可思議，丹麥 Scan Global 台灣代理楊經理也甚好奇特地到卸貨地點先睹為快，見識一下丹麥椅子魅力何在？

這回懷德居尋求與丹麥名廠合作，自行嘗試瞭解進口作業全程，處處以降低運輸成本為考量，希望可以以最低價格回饋喜愛 Wegner 椅子的友朋們，不過其間也發生一段意外的插曲－丹麥內陸運費報價的出入，卻讓我有機會認識他們產業界如何與其鄰居和諧相處，善盡責任，思考居民生活的安靜與安全，這樣的做法值得我們借鏡看齊。以下是 PP 主其事者與台灣代理楊經理來往電郵，身為進口當事人我完全接受 PP 的解釋，也樂於藉此披露其間對話，得見文明國家子民揖讓之風。
PP 致我方電郵摘錄：
As to the quotation between you and Professor Tong-Yang Lin we have not been involved in this. But as to the inland freight of Dkk 4.174,00 from our workshop to Scanlogistic's warehouse we can give you the explanation as we also explained it to Scanlogistics when we were contacted about the delivery - that we are a very small workshop situated in a Villa Quarter where big heavy trucks are not allowed and therefore all goods from us are picked up by an inland carrier we have a special agreement with of picking up here in small vans and only once a week for consideration of our neighbors and their children. So practice is that they every Friday take all we have ready to their warehouse, and bring it out to the various delivery addresses when all items for a consignment are ready. It might cost a little more to have items picked up and delivered this way, but the only alternative would have been that the container was trucked to our inland carrier's warehouse and packed there, which would not have been less expensive, since they would have charged both for the pick-up here and for the time they would have used to pack the container. And that is also why it was arranged that our inland carrier delivered to Scanlogistic's warehouse.
Forwarding agents we have worked with through many years know of this procedure and take these costs into consideration when quoting or we inform them to do so if we are contacted.

Thanks very much for your kind & detailed explanations below, which is appreciated by us. I can fully understand how wonderful living and even working environment is there in your area, and you people devoted yourselves to maintain and to protect it are touch by us, people in Taiwan.
It's so embarrassing for us to have you taking time in writing again on this situation which has been explained to Scanlogistics before, but this is really helpful not only for Professor Lin on his continuous orders, but for us in handling future shipments.
